The inspiration for the chair came from Mark Kapij, CEO of Movably Inc., who experienced discomfort while sitting for extended periods following a cycling accident that resulted in a fractured vertebra. Dissatisfied with the ergonomic chairs available on the market, Kapij collaborated with Andriy Chulyk and Jose Chavarria to create a solution that offers ultimate comfort and flexibility.
The Movably Pro chair combines the ergonomic benefits of a traditional desk chair, the adjustability of a standing desk, and the movement capabilities of a treadmill desk. Users can choose to sit, stand, or adopt the unique “Flamingo” posture, with one leg raised and one leg down. This variety of positions allows individuals to change their posture throughout the day, promoting better blood circulation and alleviating discomfort associated with prolonged sitting.
Designed to be compatible with all sit-to-stand desks, the Movably Pro chair offers seven different postures. It features an integrated and height-adjustable footrest, adjustable height and lumbar support, and an anti-fatigue mat. The upholstery of the chair is also replaceable, allowing for easy maintenance and customization of style.
The accompanying Movably app adds to the user experience by providing position tracking and customizable intervals for posture changes. In Auto Mode, the chair emits a haptic vibration at set intervals, reminding users to switch positions for optimal comfort and productivity.
The comfort claims of the Movably Pro chair are supported by a study published in Applied Ergonomics. The study compared the Movably Pro chair to a high-end ergonomic chair and found that 100% of users reported less discomfort after using the Movably Pro chair continuously for two hours.
The Movably Pro chair can accommodate users weighing up to 275 lb (125 kg) and ranging in height from 5 ft 2 in (157 cm) to 6 ft 4 in (193 cm). The chair itself weighs 70 lb (32 kg) and can be assembled in approximately five minutes.
Movably Inc. offers various options for the Movably Pro chair on Indiegogo. The Early Bird deal is priced at $1,499, while the Premium model, featuring an upholstery and cushion upgrade, is available for $1,798. The Movably Pro Plus option includes a sit-to-stand companion desk for $1,998, and the Premium Plus bundle offers the upholstery and cushion upgrade along with the companion desk for $2,297.
